MAKATI CITY – In a significant stride following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on August 9 to access capability intervention services under the Government Quality Management Program (GQMP), the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) and the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) conducted a full-day follow-up activity on October 17, aimed at evaluating its implementation of the “Training Course on ISO 9001:2015 QMS Requirements and Documentation.”

During his opening remarks, Florencio Carandang, Jr., SHFC’s OIC-Vice President for Corporate Planning and Communications, highlighted the vision of SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa to establish SHFC as a leading shelter agency that consistently applies quality management principles to all its operational processes. Carandang stressed the importance of instilling a “risk-based thinking and a process approach mindset” among SHFC officers and employees while upholding SHFC’s core values of professionalism, excellence, and servant leadership.

In a knowledge-sharing session, DAP Project Officer Rica Bustamante emphasized to the SHFC ISO Core Team the necessity of adopting “strategic thinking and collaboration.” The workshop demonstrated the Team’s proficient use of Quality Management Systems (QMS) Requirements and Documentation within their respective departments.

Meanwhile, DAP Productivity and Development Center Director Ma. Theresa Agustin expressed her gratitude to SHFC for its unwavering commitment to improving service quality. She said, “It is clear that the ISO Core Team’s application of QMS principles will be pivotal in their pursuit of ISO Re-certification.”

Against the backdrop of unprecedented urban sprawl and the pressing demand for 6.5 million housing units in the country, coupled with its expanded role as the main implementer of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program, SHFC aims to leverage on its strengthened QMS to efficiently deliver housing finance programs for the benefit of its member beneficiaries.
